Position Description

Multicultural Community Centre is seeking participants who are interested in undertaking a fixed-term full-time Workplace Skills Traineeship for 18 weeks to organise its annual Technicolour Multicultural Festival for 2022. These festivals, which are held in Newmarket; bring together people from many communities all over Brisbane, to enjoy entertainment for the entire family.

 

About us

The Multicultural Community Centre (MCC) was established in 1989 in Chinatown, to meet the needs of Brisbanes culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community in Brisbane Chinatown (Fortitude Valley) and the wider Brisbane community. MCC was formally incorporated in 1996 and operates as a charitable organisation (a public benevolent institution), primarily assisting migrants, refugees, the disadvantaged, the poor and the elderly. MCC is actively involved in combating any forms of racism and acts as an advocate and liaison body where government and non-government bodies are concerned. It also actively promotes multiculturalism and cultural maintenance of traditions, language, and customs. MCC is now located in Newmarket and continues to serve Brisbanes community.

Unemployed culturally and linguistically diverse job-seekers || Does not hold any certificate higher than a Certificate I In Business || Residency Criteria applies || Not receiving income support and/or assistance from || Not participated in any Skilling Queenslanders for Work program

 

Tasks & responsibilities

Willing to take on new challenges || Adaptable, responsible, hardworking || Team Player || 18 weeks of full-time work || Experience in graphic design, events planning and management, social media, or work health & safety (preferred) || From culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
