Position Description
The Client
Our client is a family-owned company with a commitment to quality and workmanship. They aim to produce the finest quality Australian-made leather & fabric upholstered lounges. They are currently searching for a mature minded and detail-oriented candidate to join their team.
The Role
In this role, you will primarily work in a large on-site workshop, with trades persons and technicians to learn from and work with. You will work for an industry-leading packaging solution and displays company with an unrivalled global reputation.
Daily activities may include but not limited to:
- Attach fasteners, grommets, buttons, buckles and other accessories to covers or frames using hand tools
- Design upholstery cover patterns and cutting plans, based on sketches, customer descriptions, or blueprints.
- Draw cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches, or blueprints, using chalk, pencils, paint, or other methods.
- Measure and cut new covering materials using patterns and measuring and cutting instruments
- Fitting fabric covers to frames
- following sketches and design specifications.
The Benefits
You will be joining a friendly and professional team, based in offices in Carole Park. You will also be enrolled in a Certificate III in Upholstery, this is a nationally recognised qualification which is paid for by the employer! You will earn a weekly wage and on successful completion of your 4-year apprenticeship, you will have access to ongoing development and career progression opportunities.
Requirements
To be considered for this role you will require the following:
- Have a keen eye for detail
- Demonstrate clear, confident and strong communication skills
- Be driven to work to a high quality with pride in the work you carry out
- Able to work within a team
- Willing to perform various tasks as required
- Own transport and Driver's License
- Understanding of basic mathematics
- Willingness to learn
You will undertake an Apprenticeship and attend TAFE where required to obtain this qualification. The first stage of the selection process will involve a phone interview and only successful applicants will be contacted.
