A qualification in Kitchen Operations provides the skills and knowledge needed to be competent in a range of kitchen functions and activities including cooking and preparation of food. A Kitchen Operations worker will be supervised by a qualified chef and will assist the team of Chefs in their responsibilities.

Duties of a Kitchen Operations trainee may include:

• Washing and cleaning cutlery and dishes and packing them away correctly

• Handling, sorting, storing food products as well as preparing them in various ways including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping and cooking.

• Maintaining a clean kitchen environment by removing rubbish and cleaning all food preparation stations.
