Child Care Workers provide for the individual needs of children and babies in their care under the guidance of a supervisor.

Child Care Workers may have the following responsibilities:

• Planning developmental programs based on the observation of individual children and implementing programs accordingly
• Observing and recording children’s growth, behaviour and development, and discussing these with parents
• Preparing play and learning materials and setting up the children’s environment
• Supervising children’s play, making sure of their physical safety at all times
• Helping children with daily routines such as toileting, dressing, eating and sleeping
• Performing simple first aid in emergencies.
