Fabrication engineering tradespersons cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, maintain or repair metal products and structures. This can involve producing moulds for metal castings and working with a variety of materials.

Responsibilities may include:

• Examining detailed drawings or specifications to find out job requirements

• Cutting, rolling, shaping, bending, moulding, spinning, heating or hammering metal products to create products

• Setting up and operating hand and machine tools, welding equipment or Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines

• finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions
