Duties performed by a Dogger worker may include:

• Safely attaching lifting devices to items that need moving using hooks bolts, clamps and bolts
• Communicating with crane and winch operators using two way communication or hand signals when their visibility is impaired
• Guiding loads to their correct position as they are lowered
• Checking loads to make sure that the size, weight and shape can be safely lifted
• Maintaining the safety of equipment and other workers
