A qualification in Greenkeeping provides the skill and knowledge needed to establish and maintain fine turf, grassed areas and synthetic surfaces used for sport.  Greenkeepers work at a variety of locations including golf courses, bowling clubs, tennis courts and cricket wickets, ovals and racecourses and sports playing fields

Duties performed by a Greenkeeping apprentice may include:

• Installing irrigation and drainage
• Mowing, rolling and levelling surfaces, using appropriate equipment
• Controlling pests, weeds and diseases
• Repairing damaged areas of grass
• Planting and maintaining trees, shrubs and flower beds
• Installing various sports equipment ready for games
