Locksmiths are responsible for installing, selling, testing and maintaining locks and related security devices and systems.

Workers with a Locksmithing qualification may be responsible for the following tasks:

•Selling and installing high-security lock systems, key control systems, all types of mechanical locks and keyless entry locks

•Repairing, replacing or adjusting the damaged components of doors or locks.

•Adjusting mechanical and electronic key codes

•Determining customer security requirements and providing appropriate level of security

•Assisting clients to gain entry into locked doors and products.

•Recommending security and locking systems that provide for client’s needs

•Selling locks, safes and associated hardware
