Undertaking a qualification to become a Master or skipper will provide the skills needed to perform work within a fishery or maritime environment.

Duties performed by a Master or Skipper may include:

• Using Radio and satellite equipment to  relay information to crew, other ships and harbour
• Performing hospitality duties such as preparing tables, Serving at the bar and maintain cabins for clients
• Attaching runners, weights, buoys, anchors, poles, stakes, wood or metal beams to nets, traps or pots
• Sorting, cleaning, processing, preserving and packaging fish, crustaceans and other catches
