A qualification in Mining,Field or Exploration Operations will provide skills and knowledge relating to the routines and procedures that will be performed as part of a mining explorations team.

Duties performed by a Mining,Field or Exploration Operations apprentice may include:

• Extracting coal or ore through drilling, blasting, excavating and using specialised mining equipment
• Loading ore for transportation
• Developing new shafts, air vents and rooms within an underground mining environment
• Installing lighting, cabling, pumps and other equipment needed for mining
