A qualification as a Portable Fire Equipment Operator will provide the skills and knowledge to maintain and replace small fire fighting equipment.

Duties performed by a Portable Fire Equipment Operator may include:

• Installing fire detection systems and sprinklers and providing regular tests to ensure it is in working order
• Taking apart Fire fighting canisters and equipment and testing for faults
  Cleaning and refilling fire extinguishers
• Completing safety reports and providing suggestions on how to be better prepared for fires
