Desktop publishers are responsible for creating professionally designed and presented documents, according to specific requirements, using desktop publishing software.

Desktop publishers may also perform the following tasks:

• Talking to clients and obtaining clear understanding of their requirements, which may include preparing booklets, brochures, advertisements, in-house magazines, newsletters, training and technical manuals, stationery and books ready for printing or publishing
• Preparing Quotes for services
• Preparing sketches and discussing design concepts with clients
• Designing and arranging layouts to meet clients’ requirements
• Talking to clients about problems arising during the production phase and advising on possible solutions
• Producing graphics from an original concept, either free-hand or by computer
