Binders and finishers are responsible for folding, collating, stitching, trimming, covering and embellishing a range of printed and non-printed products by hand and by machine.

Binders and finishers may also perform the following tasks:

• Processing sheets of printed material by assembling the sheets, trimming them to size and then folding the sheets using mechanised folders
• Setting up and preparing bookbinding and finishing machines, which assemble pages or attaching covers to books
• Preparing and applying the pastes and glues needed to hold books together
• Repairing damaged bindings.
