A qualification as a Composites Technician will provide the skills and knowledge related to the process of working with a number of composite materials including epoxy or polyester resins, glass, aramid or carbon fibre.  The work involves some hand skills and some mechanised processes. These composite materials can be used to make a wide range of products which range from pools to aircraft and motor vehicle surfaces.

Duties performed by a Composites Technician apprentice may include:

• Mixing and preparing materials for the moulding process
• Maintaining machineryand equipment to assure they are working at optimal conditions
• Extracting materials from moulds and removing excess material by cutting and trimming
• Mixing and preparing materials in correct measurements
