A qualification in Rigging provides the skills and knowledge needed to assemble and install rigging gear required to lift, move and lower heavy objects using a crane or similar machinery.

Duties performed by a Rigging worker may include:

• Maintaining a safe work environment for other workers and machinery
• Estimating the size and shape of loads and deciding the best type of equipment used to lift, lower  or transport the load
• Erecting various lifting devices
• Erecting steel structures for building under construction
• Maintaining and repairing equipment
