Shearers cut wool from sheep using power-driven shavers, which are fitted with combs and cutters. They may be responsible for the following tasks:

•Taking sheep and holding them while shearing the fleece off in one piece

•Selecting shearing combs to suit the individual sheep

•Treating any severe cuts to the sheep’s’ skin

•Returning the shorn sheep to pens for counting and checking

•Cleaning and sharpening combs and cutters
