A qualification in Library and Information Services provides the skills and knowledge needed to develop and maintain a large collection of books, music, film and television and assist clients in the use of information services, such as public records, newspaper collections and the internet.

Duties performed by a Library and Information Services worker may include:

• Selecting new resources and classifying and indexing them appropriately
• Assisting in digitising old records
• Providing assistants to clients wishing to use information services
• Organising lessons open to the public relating to entertainment and information services
