Unisex Hairdressers cut, style, colour, straighten and permanently wave hair with chemical solutions, as well as provide clients with hair and scalp treatments. Although hairdressing Apprentices will begin their qualification performing more routine task such as client preparation, shampooing and sterilisation and maintenance of equipment.
Duties performed by a Unisex Hairdresser include:
• Cutting hair using clippers, scissors or razors
• Providing hair related services such as bleaching, conditioning, permanent waving, straightening and tinting
• Styling hair using tools such as brushes, combs and straightening irons
• Blocking (shaping), cleaning, colouring, adjusting, curling and cutting wigs and hairpieces
• Performing reception duties such as answering telephone calls and making appointments.
• Shaving and trimming beards and moustaches.
